This December is Childhood Cancer Awareness month across the UK and so we’re celebrating the courageous children who fight cancer with the launch of this year’s Little Star Awards.
And have you heard the news? We are delighted that the Government has announced a review of the evidence for standard cigarette packs and committed to act quickly on the findings, meaning we could see standard packs brought in before the next election.
Our new ‘Science Snaps’ series takes a look at some of the fascinating images used in research. And with Christmas just around the corner we have some great gift ideas and the challenge of an alcohol-free January, all in the name of beating cancer sooner.
Mum Emma Evans knows a thing or two about juggling career and family. A former employee in the world of financial news Emma, 44, spent 15 years working as a Client Relationship Manager for Reuters in the City of London managing a set of global banking accounts such as UBS, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley.
Emma has now set up her own family friendly business Bright & Beautiful, the new and improved face of domestic homecare that is delivering eco-friendly cleaning, tidying, laundry and ironing.
Emma says: “Our lives at home and at work have never been busier and it is so important to have the right help to keep things ticking over. Like many women I wanted to go back to work but didn’t want to return to a corporate world that can be inflexible for working mums so I decided to set up my own business. At a time when the number of unemployed women is the highest it has ever been, it makes me very proud to be employing other local women who may have been through the same thing.”
