CROUCH END GUERILLA BUNTING PROJECT

As part of the festival, the group known as ‘Made in Crouch End’ are running a project to involve the community in making flags to make bunting which we will then use to decorate public spaces in and around the village for the duration of the Crouch End Festival.

Small packs have been produced containing pieces of fabric, beads, ribbons etc for people to customise. These are on sale for £1.50. This is a non-profit community project. All of the materials have been donated and all of the proceeds will go directly to Cancer Research UK.

We are now appealing for more donations of fabrics to use on the project.

If you have any fabrics, ribbons, lace, wool, beads, buttons or any other unwanted trimmings to donate then it would be a great help if you could bring them to the next Crouch End Creatives meeting. MONDAY 6th February at 7.30 at Stationers Hall (Hornsey Vale Community Centre), 60, Mayfield Road, N8.

We also need people to help us to sell the packs in the run up to the festival. This has already begun, but the more outlets the better. If you are able to help in anyway they please get in touch by email to crouchendbunting@yahoo.com

Near miss for local lad

The gamester, ten year-old Max Lancaster (pictured) of Rokesley School in Crouch End, made a strong bid to outwit Victoria Westnedge (also pictured), 2004’s Continuo Mind Sports Olympiad Champion, at the competition, but to no avail.

However, the school boy’s visit to Fortnum & Mason, one of four outings with his mother per year to the retailer’s games department, was not met with disappointment – his mother agreed to purchase a copy of the game for a family Christmas present.
